2002 Silverado 1500 will not register that it is in park

I have a 2002 Silverado 1500 Automatic transmission. I can shift through all gears just fine. When I shift into park the PRNDL either indicates R or does not highlight any gear and the automatic door locks do not unlock. The transmission is physically in park, but I have to shift into neutral to start the truck. I have replaced the shift interlock solenoid, the Automatic Transmission shift cable (I now have a nice tight feeling when shifting), the column shifter is secure. Is the new cable just not allowing it to shift fully into park or is there some electronic component that I'm missing? Thanks for any help.

Neutral safety switch? I don't know where they are located on these trucks but they will cause a no crank when either not in park completely or in neutral. Since you can put it in neutral and start it, parking switch in the neutral safety switch probably has worn out
