To Rhino or not to Rhino

I have been looking to get my truck bed sprayed. It does have a few scratches. I was wondering if it was a good idea to have the liner sprayed in even though the bed isnt scratch free. Anybody have any insight on this??

They are going to scratch up the bed before they apply the liner to it so it doesnt matter if it has scratches in it. Itll make it easier on the installer. The bed has to be scratched to help the liner to bond to the bed

My Line-X dealer only asked that I clean any junk out of the bed before bringing the truck in. He said scratches were not a problem.

The previous posts are correct. They 1st have to ruff up the surface so if you have scratches or no scratches it doesn't matter. All that matters is you won't see a darn thing (scratch) when you get it back. As far as going with a Rhino vs a Line-x this is a good question. I think both are good and have pros/cons. I think the Line-x is stronger, but not as skid proof as the Rhino. Both ar chemical resistant, have a warranty, and can be repaired. I must say though that the Line-x place where I live say they only spray the bed up to 1/8 thick. The Rhino people say they spray the bed floor 1/4 thick and 1/8 on the sides.

Good deal! The reason Im gonna go with Rhino is because, my friend got Line-X and it is fading really bad. That and Im gonna get a bit of a deal on the Rhino. I want to go thick and I dont want it over the rail. Can they match paint? If not I might just go with black.

Opps, I should have stated too that I have a Line-x, but the only reason is because that's what came with the truck. If I had to do it all over again I might have gone with the Rhino. Yes, the Rhino people can match colors, but your probably going to pay more. Best thing to do is ask a lot of questions at both the Rhino/Line-x dealers in your area.

The Line-X fades, and so will the Rhino.......It's a UV thing. Look for a Arma-coatings dealer in your area. Arma-Coatings also offers a UV Arma gloss coating to keep a shiny, new look.....for a very long time. Line-X and other can have it applied as well by Arma, but their coatings are so poreous, that it takes about 3 coated to make it work.......they just absorb it all instead of being coated by it. Arma also has a lifetime warranty. :P

I've got the LineX/ It isn't a show truck so I don't care if it fades a little. It has proven to be a tough surface and I really like it. A co worker has Rinoand I dont think it looks near as good as the Line X. Maybe he got a bad application.

I have the Rhino and would not have it any other way. After seeing a friend LineX his bed, and the chipping and peeling afterwards I would highly recommend against a LineX.

Phhwww. Scratch... They are or should DA it to bare metal. When I was helping my Buddy Tim prep and spray Rhino liners I would DA those bed's to bare metal so that rhino liner will hold. You can be by by just roughing the surface but we only did that for the yuppies that came in with their perfectly clean trucks that we knew without a doubt they weren't going to use them. Because when you do that the liner only has the holding power of the paint it adheres to. The tinsel strength of the liner is way higher than the paint so liner to bare metal good. Plus lifetime warranty is a lifetime warranty. But if you get it done don't let them use a buffer with 100 grit tell them go screw yourself and get a DA with 40 or 80 and do it right the first time.

I waited until mine was scratched up some befor I carried it. The scratches are permanently covered sealed anyway.

Love my Rhino. I've seen three or four different brands now and can't really see any difference.

As for matching colors, my local place said they'd match the paint of my truck for $200.

Hum seems like it is a wash..... Depends on where you go and who is doing the work as to what result you get..

Guess I will have to keep doing my homework and keep looking for examples.

The bed on the 03 had a few scratches in it when they took it to have the spray in liner done and the guy up there said that it was alright because they really f**k the bed up before they spray it on

Mine came done from the dealer....What type of liner is it? Rhino....LineX....I have had no fading or chipping, and that's in the hot floriduh sun 360 days a year.
