DougS Posted August 20, 2003 Posted August 20, 2003 My wife's '02 Trailblazer has the "service engine soon" light on. I took it into the dealer and they told me that the gas tank filler tube has a hole in it where a seam came apart. They ordered a new tank and are going to replace it under warranty. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this happen, it seems like a weird problem.
Envoy Fan Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 Haven't had any problem yet with the '03 Envoy. Will they be replacing the entire fuel tank?
MattDewalt Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 My wife's light was on for two days. Made an appoinment at the dealer for 3 days later. It has since went off and hasn't come back on (about 3 days now). So, I cancelled the appointment at the dealer. I wonder if maybe she has the same problems? How many miles are on your wife's? My wife has about 45,000.
DougS Posted August 28, 2003 Author Posted August 28, 2003 My wife's Trailblazer has about 12,000 miles on it. They replaced the whole tank about a week ago, and so far the light has stayed off. They showed me the old tank and the crack was were the filler tube entered down by the tank, seems like to me we would have been loosing some fuel while filling it. The mechanic told me it had to have been cracked when it was installed at the factory. I don't know about that, unless it was weakened when installed, and then finally failed. I can't imagine it took a year and 12,000 miles for the light to come on.
MattDewalt Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 My wife's light came back on last night. I guess I have no choice but to take it to the dealer to get the codes read. Even though I hate to do it because it is no longer under warranty. Doug S, thanks for the description on where the crack is. I'll look to make sure that is not the problem with my wife's before I take it in.
bowtiextrem Posted September 3, 2003 Posted September 3, 2003 go to autozone..you can check the code for free! Then try to figure out what the heck the code means.. That will save you the $$ of taking it in to the dealer.. Especially since they charge a good bit for diagnostic.
MattDewalt Posted September 29, 2003 Posted September 29, 2003 Went to the dealer on Friday becaue on Thursaday, my wife pulled out from a light and said that the car wouldn't go anywhere. Then a big cloud of black smoke came out of the exhaust and everything was fine again. Dealer said that there was any O2 sensor code in the computer and that there was a TSB to replace it. To my surprise, they covered it under warranty even though we're at 48,000 miles!
dwcgarth Posted October 14, 2003 Posted October 14, 2003 I've had the SES light on my '02 Trailblazer as well and have taken it to two different dealers and neither one has been able to fix the problem. At first they told me the cam sensor code was incorrect and that they had to reprogram the computer module. Then the next dealer said the cam sensor really was bad and replaced that. The light has come on again today. I have about 45,000 miles on it. Has anyone else heard of this problem? It's been really frustrating since the dealers seem clueless on this issue.
