westers chip

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering, I have read alot in this forum on the wester's. What is really the pro and cons on having the westers. I have the predator and I got to admit it has it's limits. I in turn would want a better throttle response. Even though I am some what happy with the predator I always feel I can get more from my truck. I do not want numbers but more a honest what is great and what is not from the westers. Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

Hey bgdog2002,

You can read 100's of testomonials about the Wester's programming on this and many other forums. I have had mine for almost 4 months now. before it I had a Hypertech and a Superchips, which like you said, were ok but I felt there was more to be had. When I put the Wester's in I was amazed at the differance, the truck felt like I put a big block in it. MUCH more torque and incredible throttle response. The truck really launches off the line and the "dead" spot below 3500 rpm is much better. Shifts are crisp with no overlap or slip. I run 87 octane without a ping and am getting 1-2 MORE mpg fuel economy around town and 2-3 on the highway, and I drive hard and fast! Try the Wester's for his 30 day trial, if it doesn't give you all you expect, send it back and owe nothing!

bdog2002.. The thing about Wester's that i think puts it ahead of the others besides the incredible performance... is the customer service.. I have finally heard one negative and that was a guy who's truck was pinging pretty bad with the Wester's in.. Lyndon sent him a new one with the timing not so advanced.. and it was still pinging so the guy sent it back and got his money back.. no questions asked.. There isnt many places around that will do what Lyndon will do for you.. If you ever mod.. just tell him hell send you a new one.. a guy on another forum had one for his 6.0.. traded it in a diesel.. lyndon credited him for the pcm and he only payed 130 bucks for the one for his duramax.. i dont think Predator would do that..

I have the Diablo Sport too. My truck is a 03' 1500HD cc w/6.0L. I liked the programmer and its ability to read and clear codes, real time data and it's all around versatility. However, I wanted more. So here's what I did and suggest you try the same.

I e-mailed Johan Mangs from Diablosport R&D ([email protected]) He e-mailed me a program and all the info I needed to connect my Predator to the computer. I e-mailed him my current tune and he modified it and e-mailed it back. It took about a day and a half. WOW the new program is so much better!!! You just tell him what you have K&N or whatever and what octane your using and what your spark knock sensor is reading (gives him info for timing and such) And he does the rest!!! AND IT'S FREE NO EXTRA CHARGE!!!!!

Since you already have the Diablo Sport give this a try you have nothing to loose make sure you tell Johan exactly what you’re looking to gain I.E. power or MPG.

Good Luck,

Matt

Hi guys,

i just read about the Westers tonight and from the 2 or 3 topics I've read I want one too. As you can see in my signature, I have the superchips programmer. Will the Westers work with it or would I need to sell it? Is it a brand new computer or does my existing computer get modified? If its a new computer, do I get to keep my existing one? I know these may be annoying and petty questions, but i honestly have never heard of this mod before and am extremely curious. Any and all info will be greatly appreciated.

One more thing...I saw a topic about a group buy for these things..has that anready taken place or could I get in on it if i wanted...and i'd like some feedback on that transaction if possible.

Thanks for the help guys,

Chris

I don't know if the Westers will work with the Superchips or not. You can call Lyndon and ask him about that.

What Lyndon does is program a PCM by what you tell him you have (mods, etc) and what you want (hp, mpg, etc). He sends you the new PCM and you replace the one in your truck w/the Westers and send him the one you take out. You can, however, keep the PCM you remove from your truck and pay him a core charge ($170 for a 2001 I believe).

From all the threads I have read here and on other forums - Westers ROCKS!

There is a GP (group purchase) until the end of the month if you mention GM-Trucks.com when you order. I don't think this includes shipping though. The normal price for a 2001 is $395 and the 20% off, through the GP makes it $316!

The best thing I can tell you is to call Lyndon and talk to him. He is a very nice guy and will take the time to answer all of your questions! 1-888-WESTER-1

Thanks GreyGhost03! That clears alot of things up...especially at 3 in the morning! I think I am going to be calling Westers 1st thing in the morn, after I put my Superchips up for sale and de-badge my truck! :chevy:

GEAUX TIGERS

Cool! I know the last few times I've called him he's been real busy, with all the GP's he's had lately so if you don't catch him right off don't worry, he will talk to you personally! You'll be glad you called!

H*ll yea, GEAUX TIGERS!

I show on the pricing that the 01 is $495.00, which is correct?

If it is $395.00, thats tempting!!

Tweeter 400 - I'm sorry, you're right. It was late last night err....early this morning, when I typed that. :chevy:

That's still cheaper than the 03's at $595!
