8 speed transmission problem

I was just told by GMC management that all repairs have been suspended on 8 speed shutter. They said that next quarter that they should have a repair. I am really pissed, they have worked on mine 3 times and will not even try replacing the trans. for maybe a little relief for a few months. Anyone have any info?

I was excited to test drive my dream 2018 Sierra 1500 SLT from a local dealer 5 minutes from my house.  Found an identical truck in Alabama with a drive-away price about $2k less than the dealer here was offering, although I'm sure I could have gotten them within $1k if I really wanted to so I didn't have to fly from Chicago to Alabama.

Bottom line I love every single part of the truck (color, options, etc) except, drumroll, the 8 speed transmission.  I was ready to buy last night if the price was right but after taking it for a test drive I decided there's no way I'm buying a truck that stickers for over $57k if the thing feels like it's going to shake the body off the frame.

I'm super dissapointed because I'm a life-long GM driver, but I think that may have changed last night.

When I told the sales rep to give me a best price and he left to talk to the manager, I quickly googled "2018 sierra 1500 transmission".

I could not believe what I was reading and was sooooooo glad I test drove one and didn't fly to Alabama to buy the other truck.  I just can't believe people are driving around these trucks if they operate like this one did.  I did read people on forums are saying it seems to happen more frequently or worse when the truck is very cold.  Luckily last night when I test drove it was about 28 degrees outside and the truck hadn't moved for several days at least.  If it were the middle of summer I may have walked out with the keys to a truck with a crappy transmission without noticing.

The dealer in Alabama called me back with their price last night after leaving my local dealer and I told him flat out I would not be buying the truck from either him or here locally because of the transmission.  He seemed to know immediately what I was referring to and told me what I know GM ordered their dealerships to tell customers: "it's normal for the 8 speed to operate that way".

I hope everyone who suffers from this issue finds a fix, and hopefully there really is a fix "next quarter", but I wouldn't hold my breath...

I have a 2013 Cruze LTZ now and love it.  I'm ready for a big boy car now, but after this experience I don't think that'll happen anytime soon.  My current car has been great, purchased it CPO with 24k miles on it.  After a few warrantied things, it's solid as a rock.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
