I was re-pricing a Xenon retro fit kit for my car(a TRUE HID conversion). Turns out, DOT has banned HID Retro fit kits from sale starting July 2003 on! How dumb is that? HID improve safety by inproving lighting! Now If I DID buy a kit, and thre was a problem, I'm out of luck, b/c parts arent available anymore. My only hope for improved light is buying a expensive, extensive conversion kit from a newer car light style , and its just to switch to 9006 blubs.

I read in magazine something that is logical:

The HID's only "blind" us when we look at them, they stand out, so we look, then they blind us. People who complain must have never leanerned not to look at bright lights. Try it next time your oncoming with an HID don't look directly at the lights, and they won't blind you! They don't blind ME!!!!!!!!!

I forgot the exactly wording the writer make it a lot funnier

As usual, the few mess it up for the rest of us. I believe the real issue, like with 'driving lights' is aiming them correctly. I don't have an aimer but if I installed HID's I might not think to take it to a shop for aiming.

If they are NOT correctly aimed, and this IS the critical part because of their increased intensity, they can blind you. 1 second can be fatal!

Your/my regular lights may be close but the HIDs need to be EXACT! I've see enough 'rice rockets' with aftermarket HIDs aimed all over the place to know something is not right.

FWIW, I don't like the law either. :D
