anyone bought from Carsdirect.com??

Wife wants a new van and Dodge ( :) I know) has some really good rebates and 0% financing right now. Dealers don't seem to be able to get in my price range but Carsdirect is in the ballpark. I hate doing business over the phone, especially in the $20k range, but they are so much cheaper.

Anybody here dealt with them or know of someone who has?

I used them once, although I didn't buy. They called me after I had placed my order to confirm. They then contact a dealer in your area who will sell you the car at the stated price. Seems like a good deal to me.

Come to think of it, that's how my brother bought his D-Max a couple years ago. Beat everybody elses price. He was real happy. :)

They are within $800 of what my dealer has quoted me. Neither one has seen my trade-in but the dealer gave me a much better quote over the phone for my trade. Plus, if I buy through CD.com, I will have to drive almost 225 miles to the dealer where the van is, and then hope everything is as promised.

I'm leaning more toward the dealer right now. $800 would be a small price to pay for good service later.

I got another vehicle through cd and it was an very good experience, AS LONG AS you dont' have a trade in. Price was lower than any dealer was willing to offer when I called them directly, but through cd they lowered the price. Now when I was looking for my current truck, cd was a disaster, that's why I didn't go through them. Long story short, I had 2 trade ins, and the dealer that cd contracted with told me that they would offer a certain price for the 2 vehicles to be traded in, but when I brought them in, they low balled me big time, even though everything I told them about my cars were accurate. I ended up getting my truck through a friend's referral dealer, and it was great. Espcially when in your case it's 225 miles away, dont' do it! $800 cheaper is not worth it to get all the headaches if the dealer havent seen your cars yet, and they WILL lowball you when you bring the cars in.

Good luck!

Made my deal with the local Dodge dealer. Probably cost a few hundred more, but at least they will give me good service when I need it.

PLUS - they gave me a coupon book for oil changes. It has enough coupons for over 100,000 miles, all of them are $20 off. Their oil change price is $25 all the time. Hard to resist a $5 oil change!!
