Toshiba Laptop Took a dump

It seems as though my Toshiba satellite laptop has turned sick. I think it may be in the power supply or thermal protection area. Thank goodness i still got the reliable Dell desktop. Any good recomendations on a laptop in the $1k range? I am on a school boy budget. I will probably try to get this one repaired but I really don't want to drop more than a few hundred on repair.

Not sure if this will help, but my new laptop cost me (read: Dad ) a total of $1300. This is before the $350 that he saved from mail-in rebates.

 

It's an HP Pavilion 4300 with an AMD Athlon 1.66 GBz processor, 40 GBz hard drive, 256MB DDR/SD-RAM, CD/DVD with internal burner, internal modem, and Windows XP Home Edition included. A stylish and easy to use machine with no problems as of yet (knock on wood ).

 

And I am on a school-boy budget too, so I know exactly how you feel.
