Factory alarm

Has anybody else had a problem of their alarm going off for no reason.

This past week-end mine has been going off once then wait about 8 - 12 hours

then it will go off again.You guys think it could be the battery going bad in the transmitter.

I've always had problems with car alarms. Usually you have to bring it into the shop that installed it. I don't think GM installs a factory alarm. Just keyless entry. The dealer will install one as a package deal thing (that hooks up into the keyless entry system).

That reminds me, I still need to take my truck in to get that fixed...

The "factory alarm" consists of the horn going off if a door that is locked is opend without unlocking it with either the fob or the key. This of course, assuming the truck has keyless entry. As far as going off on its own, it should not do that. I will say, that I had electrical problems with my '99, '00, and now my '01. Most related to grounding. It would not hurt to replace the battery in the fob, but might not resolve the problem. - Dave

Guys..just bought a 97 GMC Burb SLT w/ keyless entry. How would I go about having the "horn" alarm set up installed to update this system? Or should I go with a aftermarket alarm system?
