Crank Position sensor

I am looking to find out where my crank position sensor is located on my Yukon. 5.7 Someone on the chevy forum suggested cleaning the sensor because it gets dirty over a period of time and may make the thing run a little rough.

On your 98 5.7L Vortec the crank position sensor is located in the composite timing chain cover on the front of the engine. It has 2 bolts holding it in. I have never heard of it becoming dirty, and the computer should code if your signal is not right. Let us know what you find down there.
