Black strip on 03/04 GMC HD's grille, chrome?

I've got an 04 GMC 2500HD that has the black plastic strip stuck on the bottom of the grille between the grill and the bumper and was wondering if anyone had either painted or gotten this chromed? My preference would be to chrome it, but I don't have a clue if that is even possible after the fact given it's plastic. Any thoughts?

If you want to change it I would say to paint it. You need something (color) there to break up the chrome grill and the big chrome bumper. Mine is a black truck so the black trim blends fine but with a different color truck I think it would look better body color.
