Hey so I’ve been thinking about pulling my 4.8 out of my truck and buying a 6.0 building it and slapping it in my truck , but I don’t know if I should go with the lq9 or the lq4 which one is an easier task for me or are both of them plug and play besides mating to my transmission ? Thanks guys love this forum got plenty of answers from here before !

Both would bolt up the same.

The LQ9's are likely more expensive than the LQ4's and they have higher compression than an LQ4.

Depending on what you say a "build" is will determine what other parts you will need/want to make it work. If adding more than stock power, you will need/want larger injectors than what a stock 6.0 uses. Transmission should be looked at because the 6.0 makes way more power than a 4.8 and the 4L60e's aren't that robust being a lot of power.

Right I’m aware of the transmission issue but my main concern is that if it’s a direct plug and play swap or am I going to need to mess with any wiring harnesses besides a tune. Thank you

Plug and play, they are the same generation engine (GEN3).

Even though my truck is 99? The lq9 I thought came for 2002-07? Sorry I just want to make the swap painless as possible lol

Yes, it's the same.

All 4.8/5.3 and 6.0's made from 1999 to first half of 2007 are GEN 3 engines with knock sensors in the valley and a 24/1x crank trigger. You can use the LS wiki page to see all engines there as well.
