Steering wheel with radio controls

Is this a simple option on newer Chevy vehicles, or does it only come on certain models?

Is is possible to exchange the standard steering wheel for one with the radio/volume controls on it?

For models previous to '03, Sierra C3 and Denali have steering wheel audio controls. To add to any of the other trucks see jpcustoms link on the left. The '03's and newer have optional steering wheel controls that controls audio and the info on the DIC.

Chevy4x4trucks (AKA Jon one of our moderators) did this to his previous Silverado. He has the whole process documented with photos etc... If I remember, I think it was about a 4 hour job.

I checked out the steering wheels at JP Customs, and unfortunately, the only ones that they carry are combination wood/leather versions. I'd like to match the standard wheel I have now (no wood), with the added wheel controls I've seen.

Is this possible? Is there another place that would carry what I'm looking for?

That was some good info on the install chevy4x4trucks.

Markeaux - That was exactly what I was looking for - I didn't think to check in the "audio" section for the steering wheel. Only one final problem - I have a 2003 and the wheel looks like it's for 1999-2002.

Since your 03 originally did not come with steering wheel controls, you will not be able to make them work with your stock set-up. You do have the option of finding a wheel with the controls and using a SWI-x to make them a remote for a aftermarket head-unit, but they still won't have the DIC functions.
