Mitch’s 2014 GMC Sierra SLE build

I recently purchased a 2014 Sierra SLE double cab for a great price that needed a new oil pump and timing chains.
If any of you have had this work done at a dealership, you’ll know how big of an expense it is.
It was a little tough to stomach, but now that the work is done, the truck feels great.
The first thing I did was take off the 17 inch factory rims and Duratracs.
The previous owner had a fairly new set of 245/70/R17s on when I bought it.
This was the first set of these tires I’ve ever owned.
I have heard great things said about a these tires from their proponents.
Besides being a little narrow, they were easily the noisiest tires I’ve ever driven on.
I only had them for about two weeks and I started tire shopping.
I purchased a set of 18” RO8 chrome clad wheels from a 2013 Sierra and dressed them with a new pair of boots.
I went with Nokian Rotiiva AT’s in 275/65/R18.
I’ve owned a set of these before and have found them to be nearly peerless for my uses and climate.
It gets cold and snowy here for half the year.
I do a ton of ice fishing and hunting and these tires have never let me down on a snowy trail all while maintaining amazing manners around for daily driving.
The next big change was a Leer XL truck cap with a set of Thule Top Tracks and Podium feet with square tube bars.
I added a second set of Bars with a dedicated set of Yakima load stops.
One set of bars can hold a 22 cubic foot roof top carrier and the other is for my canoe and kayak.
I needed these to be removable in order to fit under an older style lower garage door.
This allows for easy swapping between applications.
The Leer cap is an amazing topper with insulation and carpet lining as well as lights.
It also has a Cap-Pack Sport drawer installed under the cap ceiling.  If you’ve never considered one of these, take my advice and look into it.
It’s amazing how much stuff you can pack in there.
The last mod I made was a decision I couldn’t leave alone after seeing a 2020 AT4 in my neighbourhood sporting red recovery hooks.
I had to have red recovery hooks too.
I have a top strut mounted 2” front leveling kit I purchased from Amazon.
The plan is to install that along with a new set of lower ball joints.
I just need to give the old Visa some time to cool off!
So far, I’m loving how this truck is starting to look.
Thanks for letting me share!
