I just bought 2010 Sierra 1500 SL and all was great until 2 days ago when the check engine light came on for the P0521.  It was not the easiest task in the world but I was able to get the sensor off.  I also got a new filter but I can’t seem to get the old filter out and I’m not even sure if there is a old filter in there but I assume there is since when I put the new filter in it does not go down far enough to thread the new sensor on.  

 

I used a pick to fish fish around in the hole but it doesn’t seem like I’m getting a hold of the old filter.  I’m attaching a photo and maybe someone can tell me if there is an old filter in the hole?
