Radar detector instalation questions

I read a post somewhere, can't remember if it was here or somewhere else, about somone that installed a radar detector using the power from their mirror or ran the wires through the headliner? I have a 2004 Silverado ext cab 4.8, NO Onstar.. There is power to the mirror though because it tells me if the passenger airbag is off or on. I dont want to venture into this without a good idea of what I'm getting into. I'd hate to screw something up with the headliner or even worse electricly. I had a hard time figuring out how to get into the headliner without things really getting ugly. Ideas? Pictures if available would be great!! I would like to do this though. I hate that cord hanging down and I do like the detector up high near the mirror. (No "do the speed limit and you wont have to worry" comments please) :D:mad:

Basic steps to remove headliner (from my experience):

1. Remove ALL the trim from the pillars.

2. Remove the dome light

3 Remove any plastic clips that hold the headliner up (above rear seats)

4. Unlock any hook & loop fastners used to hold up the headliner.

Personally, I would run a wire down to the fuse box through the driver side A pillar, and tap into the SEO ACCY fuse. It's 10 Amps, and is powered only in RUN. I wouldn't want to mess with the mirror wiring simply because in the time it would take to find the wire and get the wire tapped, I'd have the new one run and terminated. Just my $0.02

When I installed my ValentineOne I ran the cable across underneath the headliner down the A pillar and used the cellular phone accessory circuit in the fuse box.
