Overhead consold Question

My dad just bought a 03 Silverardo and it has the short overhead console. He wants to have the long one. Will an older style long one bolt right in? Thanks.

Yep. It'll fit right up. Just make a cut towards the rear of the long one. The holes for the long ones are already in the ceiling. I was tired of my short one also, so I put a long one in there a couple of months ago.

hey fellas newbie here to this forum ,umm about the overhead storage unit ive finally got one im putting it in my 95 K1500 silverado why the hell did ent it have one from factory I dont know its leather, loaded,anyways running power is no problem I want it to fit tight to the headliner will cutting the slots for the back L shaped bars and one screw in the front be okay, is this all the factory trucks have is 2 cut holes or is there something mounted to the roof for these slots to fit in just curious before I start hacking any help much appreciated

Welcome to the forum. I added one to a '94 before. The holes are there in all of the extended cab models. Just make sure you get the console to mark where to cut the hole. You will also have to cut a large hole instead of just 2 small holes for the bracket. The reason for this is that you will have to clear the maplights and the compartements. The overhead console was an option for '95. They were the consoles in the Suburbans and full sized Blazers. They were standard equipment on the limited '94 LT package. Not sure why GM didn't package it with the '95. Come to think of it, the overhead console was an option for '96 also. Good luck.

wow thanks for all the help and pictures fellas,I put it in this afternoon after reading your posts, thanks a million much much appreciated :thumbs:by the way it looks great and I moved my of road light switch up there and installed the cb afterwards all in all a cool afternoon thanks again
