Factory Overhead DVD

I have bought a factory overhead entertainment system for my 2003 GMC crew cab and was wondering if anyone on here has installed this particular unit. What did you run into, did you have to get anything else, etc.? I was told that the truck should already be wired behind the headliner for this unit. Any help would be appreciated.

Would you mind sharing the part number for the unit? I was unaware that you could get the factory unit and if it is already pre-wired that would be great. Thanks!

Not sure of the part number. I bought the unit off of EBay. As far as the wiring, I was told this by someone that is supposed to know. I cannot vouch for it at this time, as I have not started the install. I will try to get the part number for you and let you know what I see when I drop the headliner.

Take good pics of the install process, and post em. I've got an 20 CC, and I'm interested in a video system also. BTW, how much did u pay for the system on eBay?

The wiring is not there, the trucks with the DVD player come with a completly different wiring harness.

I wnt through this several months ago and even purchased a factory wiring harness for the DVD equiped trucks.

I decided to go another route and I sold the Factory DVD along with the wiring harness.

I didn't look into "splicing" the new harness into the old one and I didn't feel like replacing the complete harness which includes all the wiring for the audio system.... head unit, XM, speakers, Bose amp, Bose sub, rear seat audio controls, etc.

You will also find that the trucks equiped with the DVD have a completly different headliner, so installing it in a non - DVD equiped truck will require some custom work to make it fit.

I have put my install on hold for right now. As Steve mentioned, the headliner is different. However, one can be bought from the dealer for under $300.

Yea but it can be made to look just as good as the factory,I will be putting the light in a differant spot than steve has done. I really like the look of the factory setup over the one's I have seen so far.
