Android auto and volume control

Have a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. Every time I start my truck and android auto starts, I try to adjust the volume and it only adjusts Voice Volume. Volume usually goes lower. It will not adjust Audio Volume until I hold the voice command button down like I'm trying to command android auto to do something, ill "hang up" then I'll be able to adjust audio volume. Happens every time I start android auto. Tried a bunch of different settings nothing seems to work. Stereo system is up to latest version and so is AA on my phone. Any suggestions?

I have had this happen too. Sometimes unplugging my phone and plugging it back in helps and sometimes it eventually allows me to adjust volume.

Finally figured it out! Stopped allowing notifications from the android auto app and that fixed it. Every time I plugged my phone into my truck AA was "notifying" me and that's what the system was picking up on, not allowing me to adjust audio volume until I exited the notification.
