Hello all. im new to the Chevy world and i just picked up a 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500, shes a 5.3L V8 and just today i started to get a long cranking to get her to start. it takes a good couple seconds to start her up, sometimes i need to stop cranking and try again to fire her up. It started happening and the headunit had some update going on with it that took a couple hours, i also started to get a "Trailer Break Service" error on the dash. im not getting any CEL or Codes that i know of either. Kinda a great way to start my adventure into the world of Chevy, she doesnt have any Warrenty as shes at 120k Miles and ive had her for a about a month now. Anyone had this issue previously and know what i could be?
Like i stated she will fire up its just taking some time to due to, sometimes i need to crank it twice to due so. All electonics are working once the key gets put in the ignition, she just has a long crank.

Welcome to the site.

Nice looking truck!

Do you know how old your battery is?

I do not. Think I should get it checked tomorrow?

On the off chance it is the original, I would just replace it. If it is newer and good, may have a ground issue.

These trucks like clean, fresh power without any interruptions for the electrical systems, that is why you are seeing error messages.

Had her checked today. Seems the battery is low charge. Isn't sure if the battery is bad or if the alternator is. He couldn't run a test since the battery was low charge. I'm driving it around for the day to see If she will charge back up. If not I'll end up buying a new battery to see if that fixes it.

Update: had the battery checked again. Found out cell one went completely out and wasn't holding charge. Ended up replacing the battery. Which was the root to all my errors.
