My cousin test drove one and said they are not all that great,and he thinks mine is faster especially off the line.If he were to get it do yall think I could hang with him or even beat him?

Have you raced any Ford Lightnings? Just wondering how they compare to the SS. I raced one a while back and I got owned, but thats ok, because I was expecting as much in my truck...now if I had been in the TA...

LOL I raced a lightning once...he was all debadged, I had him through first....them he burnt me once the supercharger kicked in....wasn't even funny. Once that thing spun up i was toast....ahhh...a sight to behold...LOL ford

Heh...I agree.

What gets me is that Dodge has its Viper powered SRT-10 and Ford with it's supercharged Lightning....where is GM's beastly truck? Don't get me wrong...the SS is nice...but I was hoping for a 500hp Silverado

Have you raced any Ford Lightnings? Just wondering how they compare to the SS. I raced one a while back and I got owned, but thats ok, because I was expecting as much in my truck...now if I had been in the TA...

i haven't raced any lightnings yet...been on the road with a few but never got the opportunity...most of my run ins are with imports and hemi trucks...haven't lost besides the harley yet...although i haven't really started a race i couldn't finish ahead either...that way the win colum is much more managable...

It's a proven fact that the Lightning will slaughter the Silverado SS. We're talking approximately 1.5 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Not .15 of a second, a full 1.5 seconds. That's an eternity in racing...

I figured as much...I was just wondering by how much. Now if Chevy would only come out with a supercharged regular cab SS...

Speaking of which...I read an article (can't remember where) about a regular cab SS rado (and I think a SS Tahoe and Trailblazer). Any new word on these concepts? Will they ever be driven by the general public or will they just have to live on in my fantasies?

Status Report
As we write this, GM is still considering the SS trucks for production. However, during their debut at last year's SEMA Show (see "Weaving Las Vegas," Motor Trend Magazine, March 2003), much of the talk was positive. Given the simplicity of their design and executions (all pretty much parts off the shelf), and the buzz this trio of V-8 muscletrucks could generate for GM enthusiasts, it wouldn't surprise us at all if the corporation eventually decided to green-light all three. We'll be watching closely, test gear at the ready.

It was written in June...but I assume still no green light from GM as of yet...

Tru dat. I've seen a Lightning run a 12.98 on the quarter with exhaust being its only mod. Those things are faaaaaaast.
