Update on transmission noise in '04 Silverado

Okay, to further refine the 'sound' I'm hearing. When I first start the truck on cold mornings and back it out of the driveway and put it in Drive.

I start to roll down the street and when I lift off the throttle at low rpms, the transmission seems to make a "hum" type of sound. It sounds a little like a whine. When I get back on the gas or keep the rpm's up above 1500rpm, the sound goes away.

After about a minute or two, the sound goes away all together.

Does anyone else have this sound and is it normal? If I sit at the right rpm's, the sound is very noticeable. I don't think it's an exhaust sound, it seems to be the transmission acting grumpy or at least making noise when it's cold. The transmission shifts and acts normally, it just makes a bit of noise???

Are you sure it's the transmission?

I was thinking clutch for the cooling fan but the symptoms don't seem quite right for that. What happens if you put the tranny in neutral when the noise is happening?

Rob,

I'll try that and let you know.

Maybe, I'm thinking this thing should be a vault or something. :sigh: Every little 'weird' noise has me thinking the transmission, differential, and/or the engine is going to fall out. :seeya:
