What muffler should I get for my 2002tahoelt 5.3?

I think I want a magnaflow or a flowmaster delta series. I like a deep rumble at idle and big bloc sound at wot. :seeya: What do you advise?

What size muffler and inlet and outlet diameter do I need?

On a Tahoe/Yukon, I would get a Flowmaster 50 or 70 series. I love the 40 on my pickup, but I think the in-cab resonance would be too much for a SUV.

Keep the stock pipe diameter, any good shop can hook you up. My Flowmaster 40 (single in/dual out) with custom bent tails ran me only $260 out the door.

If you hate cabin noise, I would avoid the Flowmaster (that's what I have). You might want to check out Flo-pro, they are expensive, but I have heard good things. I would say as a general rule, the louder the idle and WOT, the more noise inside the cab. I have done a lot of exhausts and have never found one as loud and as deep as I like, without lots of resonance. Long trips in my SS are not so fun anymore.

Just my .02.

What muffler do you have on your SS? How do the tails dump?

My tails dump down along the spare tire. In cab resonance is at it worst (which isn't bad) around 2K RPM.

I have the Flowmaster 530504, which is dual 3" in, dual 2.5" out. I have a magnaflow x-pipe as well. Dual tails exiting behind the rear wheels on each side. In-cab noise is present at all speeds, is really bad at 25-35mph around town. Most annoying at 50-55. Hit 60 and it is okay, but it starts up again at 65 or so and gets louder.

I have had it on for 6 weeks now, and it is better than when first installed, but not much. Next step is to install the "fatmat" sound deadener throughout the cab. If it is still bad, I may swap to another muffler.

Hmmm, maybe that is the x-pipe - not sure. Sound mat may help too.

That Flow number, is it a 40 series?

I really don't have much resonation at all except what I posted above...

It is a 50-series made especially for the 6.0l and 8.1l GMs. There is another model with a single 3.5" out, which is recommended and supposed to be a little quieter. But I wanted duals, so this was the only single-muffler option from Flowmaster.
