2016 GMC 2500 HD headlight

[2016GMC2500HD]

The passenger headlight works fine with the headlights on after dark but does not work at all during the day for running lights.  The dealer said the whole headlight needs to be replaced but not sure if that makes sense as it works fine after dark?
