Valve Cover

Hi all,

I recently bought a used vehicle and I want to take my valve covers off and clean them. What is best to remove the sludge buildup etc. inside them. Newbie to maint.

You shouldn't have too much sludge on a 2000, but simple green automotive grade would be what I would use. Oven cleaner works pretty good on steel, but your valve covers are aluminum and the oven cleaner may leave a permanant discoloration. Or you could try some of the gunk or similar engine cleaner.
