Im thinking about running dual in dual out 50 series flowmaster, how loud will it be? what size piping should i run from the muffler back with this setup, dont want to loose any low end torque? any other suggestions on mufflers?

i just recently installed a flo pro with dual tail pipes and it sounded awful i was looking for a deep rumble but got a chopping sound i am also looking for something for my 6.0 that sounds decent, the muffler guy called me and said flo master has a muffler out for the 6.0 and i am suppose to get back to him for the info on it i will post what ever i find out

I'm pretty sure that the muffler Flowwmaster says is for the 6.0 and 8.1 ltr is nust a slightly altered version of the 50 series Big Block/RV muffler. The inlets and outlets are kind of just repositioned to fit the stock in.out on those trucks/suv's. My friend's dad down the roa has an 02 Silverado 6.0 with the dual in/dual out 50 series, it sounds good! Under basic cruise, like around town when I see him go by, it has a nice, dee-mellow tone, smooth, and when he romps it it sounds awesome! A nice, smooth, aggressive as hell tone. I think he's running either 2.25" or 25" tailpipes, dual rear side exit. I'm not sure about the interior noise factor with the 50 series. There's three different 50 series models actually, 50 series Delta flow, 50 series SUV, and the 50 series Big block. The 50 series suv is the dual in model, and it has a little higher interior sound level. The 50 series Delta flow isn't bad on most trucks as far as interior drone, but I've heard people say their 6.0's drone. I have yet to hear one drone though.

If you want a nice, quiet, minimal interior sound cruising muffler, the 70 series or 50 series big block is better for you. The 70 series is 2" narrower, and I think it has an extra baffel in the one of the resonance chambers. It produces a nice, more mellow tone. I currently have this system on my 00 7.4 ltr, and I couldn't be happier. We tow a race trailer every weekend, so noise was kind of a factor, and plus my dad doesn't like it loud inside which I can understand. Under normal acceleration, it produces a nice, smooth, more mellow tone, semi-deep. When you ROMP it omg it sounds incredible. As far as interior sound, I barely notice it when the windows are up. Of course, when I'm driving it I always hear it :D . I didn't notice any low end loss with this system, I'm guessing it's partially having to do with it being a very torqey motor. Up top, I noticed a good increase mainly while towing. The best thing to do though is to go with an intake along with an exhaust, it makes a hell of a difference.

I'm not sure how Magnaflow's sound on the 6.0's, I'm guessing pretty good though. A Spin Tech Sportsman street would sound great on your truck too!

But as far as mufflers, that's the best I can give you for now!

Well then the new Super 40 series Flowmasters or 14" Magnaflow would sound great for you. Magnaflow has less drone, but the new super 40 is supposoed to be quietr inside too, and it's Flowmasters best performing muffler yet

I have dual in and dual out 50 series Flowmaster. I have twin 4" chrome tailpipes out the back. The pipes from the muffler to the chrome are 2.25". I switched from Magnaflow to flowmaster and its a HUGE improvement! I dont have any more in-cab vibration or resonance and it sounds really good. I wish I would have put the pipes side-by side out one side, because I hate the way the 2.25 pipes look from the side. I will be changing that minor detail soon. (the picture here of my truck is when I had the magnaflow) No matter what flowmaster you get, you will LOVE IT!!!

How in the hell are you guys getting drone with Magnaflow????? I've always had it the opposite, or heard it's the opposite. Which Magnaflow did you have? the 17" might be kinda bad for some people, but if it was the 24", then I don't know how it was loud inside.

Like I said in an earlier post, 24" Magnaflow and I had drone in the cab. This on a 6.0 HD. Still looking for something better, till then I will run stock.

Not sure what magnaflow I had, but it was SO annoying! It vibrated WAYYYY bad. It sounded good outside the truck, a deep rumble, but more muffled than the flowmaster. The flowmaster gives you everything, a nice deep, throaty sound, and loud (but good) without the in-cab resonance/vibration. The magnaflow felt like being in an un-sealed un-pressurized aircraft. I am sure it wouldnt be as bad on a 6.0.

The following is an e-mail I received from Flowmaster when I inquired about their mufflers for my 6.0L:

Thanks for your contact. We do have a muffler to fit your truck, but just to give you fair warning, the 6.0L is a LOUD motor. We have received several calls from customers who have installed one of our catbacks on their vehicle with this engine(including GM pickups, Suburban, Denali, Hummer) and they have complained about the interior resonance. If you are just installing a muffler as opposed to a whole catback exhaust system, it won't be quite as bad, but make no mistake the resonance will be there. For whatever reason, this engine is very hard to quiet down.

If you want to eliminate resonance, be advised of the above warning.

I totally agree; the 6.0 is hard to get quiet for some reason.

If you haven't messed with one, you won't understand.

Wierd! I would have guessed the 8.1 was louder! ANYWAY, has anyone tried the Gibson dual-out exhaust, or heard anything about them? I only know that they are expensive!
