1991 454SS Value?

I came across a black 1991 454SS the other day. The owner claims perfect condition, no flaws in paint and only 906 original miles. This is increadible for a truck as old as it is. This was also a common disccussion among members when I was part of the ZR-1 National Club. People would purchase extremely low mileage ZR-1s, drive them and begin to see trouble with leaks in the cylinder heads and what not. Apparently seals would be come dry and crack. When the new owner would begin to drive them, big problems. This can be taken care of by replacing seals, gaskets ect, and maybe even fresh oil. Is this a problem I might see with this truck as well? What would something like this be worth? I was guessing maybe about $10k-$12k or so.

$10K sounds a bit low if the truck is in the condition that you say....but, hell, if I had the cash, for 10 G's??? It's mine!!!

Here is a link about the 454SS's from 1990-1993--->North American Truck Club. Unfortunately, they have yet to update, so you could also try other online sites/clubs/web rings for these awesome trucks. Good luck!

There is also an article in Automobile Magazine from 1991 of the 454SS and the GMC Syclone here-->1991 454SS vs. 1991 Syclone

BTW: 1991 Chevrolet 454SS = 255 net HP @4000rpm/405 net lb.-ft. @2400 rpm.

Thanks...yea...they arn't strong at all. But they are rare and worth money...so I figure what the hell.

Great artcle...WOW those Syclones sure are strong. I'd definatly like to get something like this. Something I could play with a little, and something you don't see all the time like 5.0s and stuff. Sy/Tys or 454SS would definatly be the way to go.

Oh, no doubt about it. The Sy/Ty's are not to be messed with. I think there have been several videos of them blowing the doors off of 5.0's and even Camaros. The 454SS's aren't exactly Lightning-killers, but they can certainly run along side of them.

Hmm, A 454SS, a Syclone, a Typhoon, and a Lightning. Not a bad set of sport trucks!
