2003 Silverado Climate Control

I know this may be an off the wall question but im gonna ask it anyways. Does anyone know if the digital climate control panel in the 2003 Silverado will work in the 99-2002 Silverados?? I know it is dual zone but I wondered if it would work anyways, minus the dual zone deal.

Sure would be nice if it could!

I imagine at minimum you'd need a blower motor speed controller and a wire harness. I know for fact it won't plug into the existing connector. I'd know for sure if I could get a wiring diagram.

But then the new dash is slightly redesigned, so it might be a trick getting it to fit. It might be taller than the old climate control.

I'd sure love to have it. I'd even be happy with the non-digital auto climate control in the Denali's, but the digital would definitely be bonus eye candy.

Will the panel out of the Denali work? I saw one on eBay for like 50 bucks. I tried to look up the price for it on GMPartsDirect but the part number he posted was bogus.

The Denali panel will definitely snap right in, but it won't plug in. The electrical connector is different. The way automatic climate controls operate the blower is also different, so I imagine you'd need to replace the blower resistor module with a blower motor speed controller. I bet the one used in the Denali probably goes right where the resistor module goes. Other than that, you'd also need an interior temperature sensor and sun load sensor to go in the dash. Then there's the wire harnesses and splicing it all together. I'd need to see a schematic to see exactly what all is needed though, and those are hard to find.

What about the tail lights on the 03 Silverado, anyone gonna buy some of those? Can someone tell me about their venture with the painted door handles. Should I have them done at a plain old body shop or at a Chevy dealers body shop?

I've considered adding the centerconsole from the Denali's looks a little bigger, but I think it would fit. I wrote up a guide for painting the door handles, if they ever put it up, it's not really that hard if you have the equipment. I painted the bumper moldings, and then got carried away. Now everything but the wipers and wiper cowl are body matched, check my pic site in the sig for how it came out. PM me if you have any questions.

The '03 controls will not work on the '99-'02. The entire HVAC plenum is different. The plenum and control dimensions are a bit different also so it can't be retrofitted. The easiest way to get the climate control is to do what Gnat said about changing to the Denali unit.
