First off...

Thanks to everyone on this forum. I have been silently lurking for about a year and enjoying all the information that you all share.

I've ordered a new truck and it is scheduled to be delivered the first week of April. My father-in-law has a GM Card that he hasn't used it quite a while, but told me that he thought there was some GM earnings still on the card that I could use toward my truck. He says that he can give them to anyone he wants, but I'm unable to locate anything on the GM Card website that confirms that for me.

Can anyone confirm this for me? If the earnings are transferrable, can you advise on what needs to be done to transfer them? The wrinkle in all of this is that I have the card here in Michigan, but my In-law is in Arizona and won't be back until the middle of May.

Thanks for the reply, however, if you read my original post, I mentioned that I have already reviewed the GMCARD.COM website and found nothing that refers to transferring earnings.

If you are aware of a specific page on that website that provides this info, I'd love to have a page link to look up.

The main reason that I posted my question, is because their website has not been helpful. Is anyone else familiar with how to go about getting the earnings transferred?

my girlfriend let me use hers. I took the card in to the dealer when i bought my truck. The dealer called my girlfriend and took down her SS #, date of birth, and mothers maiden name. Then he called whatever GM phone number that needs to be called to set the account up to be transfered and told the guy on the phone all the info. Took about 10 minutes. So, basically...make sure when you buy the truck that your Dad can be gotten a hold of by the dealer and you should be fine. He will need to speak with him directly for the info he needs. Thats how i got mine transfered. Good luck.

If it can be taken care of with just a phone call, we can definitely make that work.

Thanks for the info and quick reply!
