Link to the story The story is unreal. I e-mailed the guy but forgot to mention this site, I mentioned where I saw the link (www.zr2.com) and another where I was GOING to post a link. I read the whole thread, I commend the guy for how he handled it, the cop he dealt with deserves some kudos and his lawyer deserves the dinner the guy plans to make for him.

Warning, it's an Audi/VW site...

Something similar happened to my grandfather 2 or 3 years ago.

One of his neighbors called a junkyard to haul 2 of their cars away (old Datsun Pick-up, and '70s chevelle), and the tow driver somehow thought my grandfather's '72 IH Scout and old Triumph GT-6 looked like the 2 vehicles mentioned above... :P

Since they were going to the junkyard the Driver just yanked them to bits getting them up on the truck without a care.

He got them back, but they're now in pieces.

I think I might have shot the wrecker driver......or at least shot out his tires and glass as he tried to take it away the 2nd time. I think we can do that here in Texas?

Doesn't sound like it was a scam but who knows. Kind of strange how the bank had the info yet didn't carry the note. I had a '77 GMC taken from in front of my house back in '86 about 30 minutes after I parked it. Called the cops when I noticed and they told me it had been repo'd to which I answered there is no loan. They responded with "it was a mechanic's lien". I had a starter and flywheel replaced a week or less before and had paid for it with a COMPANY (I used it at work) check, which bounced......but only ONCE! They didn't even bother to run it a 2nd time much less call me to let me know what was going on. Since it was after closing I steamed all night because I couldn't get to it.....or them! I had the cash and was there when they opened the next morning to get my truck and let them have an earfull about what pricks they were, to which they responded "hey, it was your check that bounced". That just made me even more angry and I told them it wasn't even MY check. If it wasn't for a buddy of mine that went with me I would have surely taken on every SOB in that shop(and probably got beat to a pulp). My buddy held me back more then once while we were there, thank goodness!

Anyway it was a SCAM and I wasn't the only one. Seemed they did this with everyone. Check bounced...no notification, no trying to run it through the 2nd time.....they just went and got your vehicle. They charged me a return check fee,

wrecker fee, and a storage fee. I gues it was a profit center for them. They were out of business about a year later so obviously the word got out.

Reminds me of a Cops style repo show where the guy was towing a truck by lifting the front with the truck in PARK! you could hear the transmission being the destroyed while the owner was chasing him with a handgun. The narrator said "This is a 4 wheel drive so the rear end stays locked untill 20 MPH"

On a side note, I love that repo show. Watching it almost makes me want to be a repo man.

It's on TLC, but it's one of those "seasonal" shows that comes on once every 4 weeks or so.... It's one of those ones you just stumble upon.

The guy hosting/narating used to be on the Sopranos.
