Extang RT owners

I recently purchased a Extang RT tonno for my '03 and I am a little disappointed in the overall fit and finish. The top hangs over the velcro rails by about 1/4" on each side. Also, the top actually sags a little below the rails so when it rains it pools up with water. I've got the tensioners cranked almost all the way forward (any further and I can't get it to lock down at the tailgate). I contacted Extang today and they are sending me some shims to put under the bows to raise them up to the rail level. Jeff at Extang said he personally has taken a few phone calls today about the pooling water issue from other people, so I guess it's not just me. Anyone else having this problem? I know it's a low-profile tonno, but I didn't expect this.

I have the extang full tilt and could not be happier.Fit and finish are perfect and I am super picky....

I bought a TruXedo Low Profile about a month ago and I am really happy with it so far. No pooling on top of it in the rain but it does leak a little at the front which we are still trying to seal up. The leaking at the front is caused by the shape of the Penda liner I have and I think it would be fine if it did not go up over the rail at the front of the box. It ends about .5" from either side on the box and creates a small area about a 1/2 in. long by 3/16 in. high that water can be forced it when driving in the rain or going through a car wash. It does seem a tad wide but I think it might shrink a bit this summer in the sun and it is not enough to bother me.

 

Very easy to operate, three thumbs up
