6 Disc Changer in '00 Burb

I would like to install a 6 disc changer in my '00 burb in place off the tape player that is in the lower dash. I read all through the post on the NAV and 6 disc changers on the newer trucks and thought some of you might be able to help. I bought a changer Model # 15095685 manufacture date of 4/1/2002. My tape player is Model # 16252315 manufacture date of 5/26/2000. The CD is approximately 1 inch wider than the tape player and it looks like the mounts will need to modified. Is this the right CD changer for my vehicle?

I also noticed the tape player has 9 pins in the plug and the CD changer only 8. Will I need to have the radio re-programmed or is that just the newer trucks?

Also, if this is the right unit for my 'burb, does anyone know if their are other mounts I can buy to get the changer to just slide in?

Thanks in advance for you help. I apologize if this info. is already on the site. I tried several searches and did not find what I was looking for.

there was one post some time ago where remote 6 cd changer was installed in the same place where a remote tape player was. if i remember correctly, it was for a 99 tahoe and only modification he had to do was make the opening wider. as for the connection, im pretty sure he just connected 9-pin harness to his head unit and the cd changer.

as for the cd changer, im pretty sure that if you have the cd changer with the black plastic mounting tabs on the side, it should just connect to the head unit just using the 9-pin with no modification. this ebay auction has good pictures of the plastic tabs.

That is the exact unit that I have. I will try and figure out a way to put it in and connect with the existing cable. I do have the plastic clips, but I will probably have to remove them to get it to slide in.
