broken axle

i have a 2002 z w/6"lift.. i recently broke the front left axel.. does this happen often with lifted Z's without aftermarket front end.. wen i replace it, does after market axles and cv joints make that much of a diff.. which brand should i go with

How big a tire are you using and is it a 1/2 ton model I assume?

im running bfg all terrain t/a ko 33x12.5x16.5

If you can bear the expense get a IFS out of a 3/4 at a bone yard with its 9.25 ring gear and heavier axles vs your 8.25 ring gear unit and lighter axles. That 8.25 is not too strong and if you beef up axle too much the differentail may fail as the axle kinda acts like a fuse for it.
