Wont Start all the Time

My son has a 2001 GMC step side with a V6. Every once in a while he will get in it and it will not start let it set for a bit and it fires right up. It has happened three times in the last two months. I'm a dummy when it comes to engines any one have any suggestions?

I've done a search here through the other post and everyone that has had this same question never got an answer. Did any of you that had this porblem get it fixed and what did you have to do to get it fixed? Your help would be most welcome.

It seems like most of the starting problems with the V-6 are related to the distibuter cap/rotor. On the V-8's the problem is usually centered around the fuel pressure regulator.

I tend to think fuel or fuel management issues. How does it run at first when it does finially start?

My buddies 02 (V6) went through about 6 cap/rotor combos before the warranty went out.

 

It was something to do with condensation from the AC line dripping on it constantly or something like that.

I had starting issue with my truck with the 5.3 V8, and it was the fuel pressure regulator.

The way I determined it was fuel related was, I would turn the key and let the fuel pump kick on until it stopped and then tried to start it and it would fire right up. Otherwise it would just keep turning over until the fuel pressure was high enough.
