Flowmaster Muscle Truck Exhaust

Recommended Posts

I just ordered the new muscle truck exhaust from flowmaster. Part number 17392 from summit racing. It was 289 and that is including shipping and handling. Anybody else try this system and like it? It'll be here either wednesday or thursday so it'll be put on really quick after I put a couple of coats of ceramic paint on the piping to help out with the rusting problem here on the coast.

nevermind guys. Summit said they were in stock so I ordered it. Now come to find out, they are on back order and won't be able to ship out till July sometime so I was like bump that and canceled the order. Now I really do not know what to go with. Guess I'll try the magnaflow stainless steel cat back or the borla cat back.

Try Magnaflow or get a Borla XR-1 welded under your truck. I can tell ya you will not be dissapointed with the XR-1 or a Magna setup. The full Magnfaflow cat-back will get you some nice power. More so than the Flowmaster cat-back.

:seeya: I still can't figure out how they charge so much for cat-back systems, when local shops will weld the thing in there with custom bent pipes for tons less. Maybe somebody will enlighten me.

Just go down to your local exhaust shop that carries Flomaster, and tell them what you want.

I had my exhaust on the 92 done with custom tubing for well under $200 out the door. Yes, it's everything from the cat-back, and it's Flowmaster.

Ok, preciate it man. I think I am going to get the magnaflow dual exhaust cat back kit for my truck. Part number 15794 instead. I looked up the price for the single 3" borla cat back kit and the dual magnaflow kit and after shipping, they are only five dollars difference in the prices.

oh yea, my two local exhaust places here quoted me 425 and 475 for a dual exhaust out the back. For that much, I'm getting mandrel bent stainless steel. From tbyrne, I can get the magnaflow out the door for 454 and the borla from another company for 459.

My opinion, the muffler that comes with the Borla cat-back is way too quiet. I wanted it loud and thats not what I ended up with. I heard a few Magna setups and they just werent what I was looking for when it came to tone and volume. I ended up switching out my muffler for the XR-1. I didnt go for duals, I just went a single 3".

Ok guys, some freak chance...summit called me and said they actually had one afterall so I went ahead and ordered it. I've been wanting a mandrel bent exit there for the past 6 years. So I'm going to run it until it starts rusting, then send the pipes off for true mandrel bent stainless steel pipe and then I'll get some good free flowing ss mufflers and a cross over and make it dual then. I'll let y'all know whenever it comes in how it is working.

Ok guys, I got the system on and working and I love it. The interior resonance is not bad and most of the times not even noticable. The pipes were well made and the system looks great. The sound is really deep, but not loud and obnoxious. I'm going to be doing 1/4 mile runs shortly to test the difference out. I'll also be checking mpg to get a full test of the system. Best of all, it was 289 out the door at summit racing.
