Injector questions

Hi all. I am new to the forum, although have been lurking around for quite awhile. I have a 2001 Z71 Tahoe, 5.3L with a vortech blower (7psi of boost), shortie headers from borla, and a borla cat-back exhaust.

My questions are as follows:

Are larger injectors plug and play?

I was considering adding injectors from an 8.1L to try and take extra advantage of the forced induction. I have heard that other modifications will have to be done in order for them to function to their optimal potential.

Also, recently I have been having problems with my bosch bypass/blow-off valve sticking. I bought a new one now it is hanging open too, and letting all my boost escape. I am considering tossing this cheapo piece of plastic and going with something more reliable, but it is odd that this just started up all of a sudden. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks.

grant,

as far as a plug and play operation for injectors, you can install them with no

programming, but the system will sorta reject due to the larger size as the

PCM thinks they are a smaller size.

it is common to replace the injectors, discard the FMU and reprogram the

computer to meter the fuel along with the SC.

your tuner should be able to do this for you. they will require some information

a data scanner can provide, because of the change.

Thanks bro, I see that you are also in Arkansas. Any thoughts as to who the cheapest source is for the new injectors? Also what is the rationale for scrapping the FMU altogether? Thanks for your time.

If you plan on getting bigger injectors make sure you get the ones for a 8.1 marine engine because they are 43#'rs. I was looking at buying some too and was planning on getting them from ASM.
