I'm getting an error on start up that is saying low virtual memory and it won't start up or is really really slow about it. I also get a crap load of pop-up as well. I'm guessing I have some sort of virus or trojan. Whatever it is is also changing my homepage to something search.com. Can someone give me so help on getting my computer back up and going to the speed it needs to me. Thanks for any help that you can give me. I've tried posting a hijackthis log on computercops.biz but they never seem to want to help or reply to my thread.

Try downlaoding SpyBot and check system for spyware for starters. You can get it here.

Pest patrol is also a good one, but you have to pay for it.

I have tried a lot of them and I have found that the combination of SpyBot register entries and Spyware Blaster for web scripts to be very viable. You can also stop using IE and start using FireFox (version 0.9.1 is lastest) from Mozzila.org as it is way ahead of IE and has built in popup blocking that is about fool proof too.

If you are going to run SpyBot...download and install Adware aswell. Each of them generaly will catch anything the other wont. The only program I have found that gets most everything in one shot is Spy Sweeper by WebRoot..but you can only update the definitions files once with a shareware version.

I also agree that you need to get away from IE, personally I use Avant browser, it also had pop-up blocker built in...Havent tried the Firefox version of Mozilla yet

I've used spybot, spy sweeper but still have same problems as I did before.

It is the first step of many. Tell me more about your system (ram, CPU, OS, etc) and have you used any Virus scanning software so far? Have you also lloked in Task Manager yet to set where all the CPU cycles are going to that is causes system to be so sluggish.
