bigger tires on 03 tahoe Z71

My friend has a 2003 chevy tahoe Z71 and wants bigger tires on it. Will 285/70/17 fit up under there without a lift? If not will they be able to fit with a few cranks of the t-bars? Please reply back with details. Thanks

If it's an 03 I think it has 16's not 17's but I could be wrong. Does he have aftermarket 17's or the stock rims? I know the 03 Silverados had 16 inch and they didn't make the 17's an option until 04.

That being said I was able to get 285/75/16 BFG AT's on my stock rims without any problems at all. Not sure I'd want to go any larger than that on the stock rims.

Hopefully this is some help?

The Z71 Tahoes come with stock 17" rims.

On my 2001 I have a 3" body lift with 315/70/17's on the stock rims. I'm not positive on the largest size tire you can fit on stock rims but I am pretty sure that 285's or 295's would work. You might have to crank the torsion bars a little to keep it from rubbing.

Thanks for the correction - didn't know the Tahoe Z71's had 17's :D
