Exhaust system

Hello all, new here. Well anyways I have a 3 door 98 silverado with the 5.7L 2wd 1500. I was looking under it the other day and noticed that my exhaust looks a bit strange. It is a dual exhaust until it gets to the muffler where it's dual in and single out. Is this the stock set-up or did the previous owner do something strange. I would like to put a new muffler on to get a bit more tone out of it. But I can't seem to find a dual in single out. Plenty of single ins dual outs but... Can some one chime in and point me in the right direction.

well if you want the tone i would just stick on a dual in dual out muffler at any muffler shop and they can custom bend the tubing to exit where ever you want, should run around 200-300 bucks, if you want a dual in single out then i think borla makes a nice one but they cost a lot, im sure there are cheaper ones than that :puke:

First of all, I think the muffler you have now is the stock one; the dual-in/single-out is often used with the 5.7 & 6.0 liter engines. Another option is to get a 2-in/2-out muffler and have them use a y-pipe to a single out.
