97 trans grind

I have a 97 chevy truck vortec 350 not sure on trans it is 4 speed auto. there is a grinding sound like worn brake shoes in first gear from stop when shift to 2nd gear noise stops. also same sound in reverse but not as loud. Thaxs for your help. Today trans slipping in first gear???????

Sounds like a sun shell to me. I had mine replaced about 2 weeks ago with the same symptoms.
