Temp Gauge in Mirror

I have an '04 Silverado Z71 with the rear view mirror and compass/temp gauge built-in.

 

Where is the actual tempature gauge located? Sometimes it's really accurate other times (usually after a car-wash) it goes WAY off until it seems to dry out.

Pretty sure it's up by the radiator, between it and the grille.

Try parking close to a building with the engine and air running and watch it climb. I was waiting for a friend to come out so we could go to lunch and I watched hit 116.

Come to Phoenix Arizona if you want to see it top out.......dont need to park against the building either.
