For whatever reason my battery was dead this AM. Charged the battery. Vehicle would crank but wasn't getting fuel. Onstar tech said to leave key on for 20 minutes. Turn it off and retry.

DIC still presents message "Unkown Driver"

No go.

Fianally I disconnected the battery for 30 minutes.

Reconnected battery vehicle started and ran niormal.

Findings: alway carry a 8mm box end wrench to you can "Power Off , Master Clear"

the ECM.

Also the remote keyfob would not work .

Keyfob and "Unknown driver" are related. If you have the setup that automatically adjusts for different drivers depending on which remote unlocks the vehicle, if you use a key to open the door, the truck doesn't know who's getting in. You may have to re-synch the remotes to the truck. On older trucks, it was as simple as holding the lock and unlock buttons until the truck locked and unlocked the doors. Yours may be different due to the personalization.

FYI, this is NOT the same as programming a new remote, so it's NOT "just that simple" to take a remote, synch to your truck and get in if someone wants to steal the vehicle...
