Navigation system

Has anyone put a Navigation system in there HD. I have a '04 2500 HDSLT Crew w/Duramax and am interested in adding a navigation system if it'll "blend into" the interior. Anyone done this or have some pictures?? Thanks

I added an Alpine head unit with a 7" screen and the Alpine PowerNav system. The screen looks nice in the dash and I hid the PowerNav unit under the seat. The only problem I have is when I shut the screen it hits the gearshifter if it is in park. I just move it out of the way and call it good if I need to. The PowerNav system works good, but the GPS system I have on my laptop works better and I made a mount for it in my truck. Good luck. Besides the GPS system for my laptop cost about $130 where the head unit and PowerNav system was nearly $2000. Oh and $20 in parts for a mount for my laptop. Much better deal. :jester:

I was thinking of doing that too with a cheap laptop and Delorme's Earthmate package. The builtin NAV system is nice but like you said pretty pricey and if not already there a lot to work to put in.

I had the Delorme's Earthmate GPS and the Software on my HP Laptop for my last business trip. Long story short after 30 minutes in downtown Huntington WV the bum on the corner was able to help me find where I was going. I am waiting on my new Pocket PC and my Bluetooth reciever, with the TomTom software. Alot of the tech forums say that this is the way to go so I am gonna try. But if your really gonna go with the Earthmate buy it as a package at Bestbuy, they will take it back if you hate it. Thats's just my 2 cents.

I've used Street Atlas for awhile now (used to beta test it since v2) and it is pretty accurate but some parts still are not updated. They do update it every year which makes me wonder how often they do on factory systems.
