resurfacing driveway

Has anyone resurfaced/resealed their driveway before? I'm planning on resealing my asphalt driveway tomorrow. I've prepped it already, filled cracks, swept and hosed it down, but there is some sand still remaining. Is that good enough? Any input is appreciated.

I just did mine a couple weeks ago - I would try to blow all the sand dirt off the driveway - I use the blower side of my shop vac - worked really well.

Now some people like to roll it with 9" reg paint rollers. - This is the easiest way - buy some poles - screw the rollers on the end and roll away. No bending over etc... Now if you do this - get rollers for semi-smooth surface or rough surface - what ever you can find cheap. Cause you are going to throw everything away when your done - except for the poles. This method is the easiest - but doesnt put it on very thick. If you read the side of the barrel - they actually tell you not to apply it this way - they wont honor the 'warranty' (who would question anyways). I pesonally did not use this method. I think it puts in on too thin. If its the first time sealing your drive I would recommend the conventional method of using a squeegy.

This is the method I used - Just pour some of the stuff directly on the tar and work side to side. - You will get the hang of how much to pour out each time and how to spread it nice in no time. If its really sunny and hot - I would recommend spaying a little water on the area where you are working towards. I didnt and I have some steak lines where the tar started to dry too quickly.

Oh yeah - even if the bucket so "no Stir" dont listen - stir it before you use it....also - as you get to the end of one bucket - open a new one and mix the two together as to avoid any color differences.

Good luck and have fun !!
