Has anyone figured out how to tap into the GPS receiver built into our truck to an external GPS system on a lap top or PDA?

Yes, it very complicated and expensive. You bettere off going to Wal-Mart and purchasing a handheld GPS with a serial port. ~$150.

Basic unit comes with the Map Software and a USB connection for a laptop for $130. You can get optional/included items for cable connection to handhelds, and/or for wireless bluetooth connection to laptops and/or handhelds.
