I just purchased a 1997 Siverado, ext. cab short bed with only 20,000 miles on it!! Poor old guy had bought it for his retirement and then came up with the big C and died. So now I am the owner of a showroom new condition pickup! What mods would y'all suggest? It has the 5.7 Vortec with 3.73 rear. Exhaust? Chip it? Air Raid, Vornado, or K&N?? Thanks in advance, MAN I HAVE GOT THE BOWTIE BUG BAD!!!! :)

Welcome to the forum. Now that you have been bitten you will have cold sweats, dry mouth, shakes, and uncontrollable urges to buy cool stuff for your truck.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on what seems to be a great low milage truck!!!  Is it a 4x4?

There are alot of guys here that will give you some great advice...  hang around and have fun!!!

WOW, sounds like the truck came pretty well equiped. Just a couple ideas; Westin CPS Stepbars, Bilstein HD shocks, and Husky Floor Liners. The Husky Liners are great if you live in an area with snow or alot of rain.

Congrats on the new purchase and welcome to the forum!  There are so many things you could do with it, who knows where to start?  I started with tinting the windows and new shocks.  Then new tires and wheels and topper.  Intake, exhaust and chip are next on my list.

Whatever you do, if you're going to toy with the suspension, ask around first.  Lots of us have done things out of order and cost ourselves extra time and money.  Enjoy that ride!   :)

Welcome to the site.  Sounds like you got a very nice truck.  Everyone else has already mentioned all the good stuff, so I'll just agree with them.  :)

You guys really disappoint me sometimes.

Newbie111, the first thing you need is a GM-Trucks.com sticker.  Then the rest of the stuff.

Mine's coming in the mail  :)     I should've got it in yellow though, would've added more power.

Thanks so much guys! I need to crawl around under the truck, the owner has done some mod's already to stiffen her up a little for towing, I will check the shocks. Also, I believe he ran a 3" cat back already, this thing hauls butt!! :) I am going to have to watch it, who ever would've dreamed that a pickup could be a ticket getter?? :0

I would've.  These trucks are fast.  People under-estimate them.  Think about it.  They are built w/ most of the same components as a camaro, they're just bigger and heavier.
