Trailer light problem

99 OBS K1500 Factory trailer harness

white = ground

brown = running/brake

green = right turn

yellow = left turn

Okay - so my trailer lights (brake & signals) work fine until I turn on the parking lights. With parking lights on, the trailer lights go out when I hit the brake and both trailer lights blink when I give either signal in the truck. Checked pigtail on truck with voltmeter and when I hit the brake in the truck it kills the voltage on the brown wire (brake/running light) at the pigtail.

Any ideas?

On a 4-way flat wiring harness White = ground

Green = right turn/brake

Yellow = left turn/brake

Brown = running/parking lights only

If your truck has seperate turn signals and brake lights you will need to wire a converter in-line between the truck and trailer connector....If your truck came equiped with a factory trailer harness pigtail (towing package) you should have 7 wires

DK BLUE = Electric trailer brake

WHITE = Ground

BROWN = Parking / clearance lamps

DK GREEN = Right turn / stop lamp

YELLOW = Left turn / stop lamp

LT GREEN = Back-up lights circuit

RED = AUX. +12 volts (batt.)

At least thats what they are on my '95...check all of your connections, especially your ground wire.....hope this helps
