removing stock stereo

If it's like my 99 sierra, you can do it without any tools. Remove the trim piece surrounding the gauges stereo and ac controls by pulling it toward you. You may need the steering wheel tilted down and the shifer in 1, I can't remember. Next remove the radio by sqeezing the two vertical tabs together on each side and slide out towards you. When pulled out far enough the wiring harness(es) and antenna cable can be removed. Hope this helps.

I think that on the 2004s you are going to have to have the dealer program the vehicle/cd player before it will work. The now only work on the vehicle that it was purchased on. I think they have to program in the new VIN to the stereo.
