Backfire through Intake

Application: 1996 K1500, 350 Vortec, 135k miles

I have had intermitted problems with the engine light. Its been code P1601, if I remember right, it's the EGR valve/circuit. Haven't fixed that yet. Lately, I have had some intermitten backfires when I first start up the truck. I have had several times where I heard a little POP. Yesterday, I heard I big POP, then saw and smelled a little smoke. I Looked under the hook and decided it must have been another backfire. It will start up and run fine after this happens. I believe once, the engie light came on as well when it backfired on starting.

What should I do? I am a do-it-yourselfer. I would know where to start if it was on a carburated engine, timing, etc, but not sure what to do on the Vorteck.

Just have it serviced, a tune up isn't horribly expensive.

Remember this, your injectors are constructed of plastic, not 100% but there is alot, and fire from a burp could cost you some coinage if not delt with...
