Tire and wheel shake

Recommended Posts

So after ai got a clean bill of health on my driveline from a local GM dealership AND convinced both the service guy and the Goodyear dealership to discuss the issue, it was decided that I would take my stock rims down there and have the current set of tires mounted on them to see if the shake disappeared.

It did ... smooth as a baby's rear ...

So, it's the wheels I bought from 4 Wheel parts 5 months ago.

I guess tomorrow I will discuss this whole saga with 4WP ...

It's too bad you didn't replace one wheel at a time - It may have only been one rim, and you could have replaced just the one if you liked them that much.

Glad to hear it all worked out in the end.

Now on to GMs 20" rims?

Just went thru the same thing with a set of Weld wheels. Was a nightmare for 3 weeks. Was running 16x8 Weld outbacks with 295 BF KO's ... whole truck vibrated. Tire shop said they swapped out tires/wheels with other sets which ruled out a tire/wheel problem...leading me on several tangents ...I too had driveline checked, dealer checked all motor/tranny mounts, etc. I finally mounted my brothers OEM tires/wheels off his new 04 and it rode like glass. Tire shop exchanged wheels for different type and truck has been vibration free. I was pis$^ed off they mislead me which caused a lot of aggravation and time.

Curious, my first set of Weld 16x8's from Four Wheel parts was bad too, one of the rims had a 1/2 inch wobble in it. A different tire on a different rim also was out of round, all in one batch from 4WP. Oh well, they changed things out and made it right.
